The 48x40 Standard wooden pallet has been used since 1930 as it was the beginning of modern pallet making. Forty-eight inches long and 40 inches high it provides the same amount of space as a 48x40x32 wooden pallet but allows for even greater movement than the standard wooden pallets. Where you would use a standard wooden pallet you would use the 48x40 wide forklift-capable pallet. This enables faster and easier movement of materials for these types of forklifts. In industries where it is not possible to use a wide forklift, rack, or hand truck these pallets can still be used as they still pack the same amount of wood and board as the 48x40x32.
